I have sought to describe all the books below honestly and to the best of my ability. I am open to offers on any of them. Pictures will be posted in the near future. George Whitefield Eighteen Sermons Newport, 1797. (Missing title page. Book is in descent condition. Fully bound in leather. no label on spine. Covers are firmly attached. The front end pages have small holes. Still, very readable antiquarian copy).
Westminster Divines The Confession of Faith, the Larger and Shorter Catechisms with the Scripture Proofs at Large together with the Sum of Saving Knowledge and the National and Solemne League, Glasgow, printed by Robert and Andrew Foulis, 1766. (Very Nice 18th century copy rebound in a nice 19th century calf leather binding with label on spine. Pages are tight and text is clean. Minor foxing on title page.
Isaac Ambrose, Looking Unto Jesus; A View of the Everlasting Gospel; or the Soul’s Eying of Jesus as Carrying on the Great Work of Man’s Salvation, from First to Last. John Robertson. Glasgow 1766. signed “ …. Dec. 13th 1767″ The year he bought this book. (The book still has the original covers but it has been rebacked with brown calf leather and raised bands. There is spotting on the first couple of pages but the text is good otherwise.)
James Ussher A Body of Divinity or the Summe and Substance of Christian Religion together with Immanuel or the Mystery of the Incarnation of the Son of God, London, printed for M.F. by Thomas Downes and George Badger, 1649. (This volume is bound in the original leather with raised bands. All the pages are present. The first three or four pages are frayed on the edges. Otherwise the book is in good condition. Pages are tight and text is clean. Some foxing)
Samuel Davies Sermons on Important Subjects, vol. 1 Philadelphia: Robert Campbell, 179 (Leather binding. There is chip across the top of the spine and a small chip and partially detached spine at the botton. The leather is starting to crack in certain places. The covers are still attached. Pages are tight, text is clean. Overall in fair condition).
Thomas Chalmers The Works of Thomas Chalmers D.D. L.L.D. edited by his son William Hanna, L.L.D. Edinburgh; Thomas Constanble and Co. 1855 vol. 2 and 3. (These are two volumes of the works of Chalmers. Volume 2 includes 54 congregational sermons. Volume 3 includes Astronomical Discourses, Commercial Discourses, Sermons on Public Occassions and The Two Kingdoms.) The book are in very good condition with beautiful binding. Partially bound in leather. The covers are firmly attached. The pages are tight. A gem for any library!)
Ralph Erskine The Sermons and Other Practical Works vol. 5 Glasgow: William Smith, 1778 (Full leather binding. Covers are firmly attached Pages are browned a bit but text is clean and pages are tight. The front page has some pencil writing. The spine is cracking a bit as well. Overall a nice volume.)
John Knox The Liturgy of John Knox Glasgow: University Press, 1886. (A very nice cloth edition of Knox’s liturgy. Book is in very good condition. Pages are tight and clean.)
